Feel Good Friday-Why are essential oils…essential?

Dear Sisters,

Today is a good day to ‘feel good.’ It marks the two year wedding anniversary of one of my son’s and his lovely bride. It would have been the 66th wedding anniversary of my in-laws. My in-laws have returned to their heavenly home during the past year. I am sure that they are celebrating a much better quality of life and love than they had here on earth. They are with the people that they love.

While living a long life is something to be admired and appreciated, one of the things that breast cancer has taught me is that quality of life trumps quantity of life any day!

My health is more important to me than any earthly possession that I own. It is essential to my happiness in more ways than one.

Which brings me to the subject of…Essential Oils. What are they and why are they…essential not just to plants but to us?

I found the following definition on the Young Living website:

Essential oils have also been used for thousands of years for cosmetic purposes, as well as for their spiritually and emotionally uplifting properties.

Primarily extracted through careful steam distillation but also through cold pressing, the purest essential oils are far more powerful than the botanicals from which they were extracted.

Modern lifestyles don’t always create optimal conditions for physical wellness. Poor diet, lack of exercise, and an overabundance of environmental toxins can leave the body unbalanced and diminish energy levels. From cleansing and weight management to supporting every system of the body, essential oils and essential oil-infused supplements can provide the targeted solutions you need to restore balance and feel your best.

In other words: I believe that essential oils ARE essential to life itself!

I believe that God created the earth and everything that is in it. One of the first things he created was plants-The Garden of Eden comes to mind. I picture it as a beautiful place thriving with life and everything that men and women need to survive and thrive.

I started using essential oils from Young Living two weeks ago today. (I had been using one of their oils for a couple of months for one of my lingering health problems.)

I felt a huge difference within a few days. Within a week, a couple of my friends noticed that ‘something was different’ too in a positive way.

As far as using essential oils to treat diseases, I have to quote from the founder of Young Living, Gary Young:

We don’t talk about disease and we don’t treat and cure disease. We are about life-style and strengthening the body through nutrition and the power of essential oils. When we do this, the body will take care of itself. We are about self-improvement and living life to the fullest. Everyone is different and no two products are the same, therefore, no two people respond to the products the same way. By simply supporting and strengthening the body with a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition, everyone can have his or her own individual experience without trying to narrow it down to a specific product for a problem.

I KNOW that the essential oils has improved my quality of life like nothing else has during the last four years. I can’t imagine my life without them-or my family. They are essential!

Enjoy your day!

Wellness Wednesday…

100_3810

Dear Sisters,

My ‘plan’ and ‘intention‘ was to post a ‘new’ blog on Wednesday  that would help you to improve your ‘wellness,‘ BUT I ‘kept’ putting it off even though I had all day to do it yesterday…I think I put this off because there was a parade in Cleveland celebrating something about a National basketball championship that has not happened in 52 years…(I didn’t go to the parade, but I did watch it on TV and saw the pictures that ‘my friends’ posted on Facebook.)

I am posting today as a reminder to me and you that one of the purposes of ‘wellness’ is to do the small things every day that contribute to it.

What is the definition of wellness? It is: the state or condition of being in good physical and mental health.

How do we accomplish this? I believe there are as many answers as there are people. All of us have our own definition based on our own personal experiences.

I want to keep this simple:

Plan. How many of you have heard it said that when you fail to plan, you plan to fail? All of us have a purpose for living. Determine what your purpose is. I can assure you that procrastination will contribute to depression and regret.

One of my friends is fond of the quote: Our decisions determine our destiny. What I want to know is what determines the decision that we make? I believe that it is our…DESIRES!

Start with answering the question: What do I desire? Then Decide what you are going to do to accomplish it. DO your homework and then take action!

Intentionally doing the small things every day that will contribute to that. Mother Teresa is quoted as saying that we can do no great things only small things with great love.

Most of you know that one of my favorite scriptures from: The Book of Mormon is: Alma 37:6… small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.

One drop of rain will never amount to much, but if a lot of drops of rain fall all at once or over time, a puddle, flooding can occur-if it is focus or contained, a small lake will form.

Now is the best time to get started on achieving your goals and dreams. It will make a difference in your life and it could help to inspire someone to follow your example.

Keep on moving forward so you will not have any regrets. Step by step. Drop by drop. Word by word. (Assuming you are writing a book or a blog.) I guarantee that your emotional, physical and spiritual health will improve.

Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised so choose to live today. You never know when your last day will be. So STOP PROCRASTINATING and...

Enjoy your day!

Chris

Feel Good Friday! The Oily Edition!

Dear Sisters,

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Today’s Feel Good Friday post is what I like to refer to as…The Oily Edition!

For those of you who have been following my blog, you KNOW that I am all about empowering women in all areas of their lives. You may also recall that I have been looking for a leader in a home-based business for a few months now.

I am very pleased to announce that I have found that leader and the home-based business that I have spent quite a bit of time searching for.

My Story as it pertains to Essential Oils and Reflections On P-I-N-K

A close friend of mine introduced me to essential oils at a home party a few years ago. It was about a year after my breast cancer diagnosis. I was impressed with her story and the story of a few of our friends.

At that time, I did not see how essential oils could benefit me and I had no desire to spend money on what I believed at that time were ‘over-priced solutions’ that did NOT fit in with my family’s budget.

Things change. Fast-forward to March of this year. With everything that I have been doing to improve my health, something was still missing. The only thing that I had not tried were essential oils. That is why I decided to contact my friend who had had the essential oil party. I was pretty sure that I was going to be joining her until I found out that she was not actively building her business. I took the next step: I started researching essential oils and discovered at least a dozen blog’s that were singing the praises of another essential oil company.

I liked what I saw and began searching for a leader within that company. Here is why I decided to join THAT Company:

P stands for Purity! This company is NOT an essential oil broker. This company over-see’s the entire process of making sure their oils meet the owner’s standards for purity in every way possible. They have their own farms!

100_3536           100_3510         100_3516

I stands for: Integrity. Integrity in growing, distilling, bottling, shipping and marketing. The owner puts his name on the label and for over two decades, people have come to appreciate his penchant for ethics.

N stands for: Networking. Networking is NOT the same thing as a ‘pyramid scheme.’ When I think of networking, I think of the cell phone companies that have the most cell-phone towers bringing you the best coverage when you purchase them. I think of ‘networking with like-minded’ individual’s and creating win-win’ solutions for everybody involved.

K stands for: Keeping it Simple. When most people see how easy something is to do that they used to think of as complicated actually is, they are more likely to give it a try. The individual that I joined in this company is very good at doing just that!

Make the THYME to join me for my very first Facebook Launch Party on Friday, June 10th from 8-10 p.m. EST. It is called: Introduction to Oils, Reflections On Pink: The Oily Edition.
