October is about being aware of more than breasts

International Squirrel Awareness month

Dear Pinksters,

Are you aware that the month of October is: International Squirrel Awareness and Appreciation month? I bet you thought I was going to say: National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, didn’t you?

I would sincerely love it if everyone were as aware of the significance of squirrels more than they are the significance of breast cancer.

I am sure many of you are aware that 12% (that equals 1 in every 8 women) will hear the words: You have breast cancer. I am sure you are also aware that breast cancer doesn’t just affect the women, but the people that they love as well. I am aware that everyone knows at least eight women.

Are you aware that 15% of the women who are diagnosed with breast cancer have at least one first-degree relative that has also been diagnosed? By first-degree relative, I mean their mother or sister.

Are you aware that ALL of have cancer cells within our bodies and that they can be ‘turned on’ or ‘turned off’? Google: Epigenetics and see for yourself.

Are you aware that at least 70% of ALL diseases ARE preventable when we make lasting lifestyle changes that work for us? Google: Epigenetics and lifestyle to see for yourself.

Are you aware that 1% of all men will be diagnosed with breast cancer? My neighbor has two former male co-workers that were diagnosed. I am the first woman that she knows personally that received that diagnosis.

For those of us who have been effected by breast cancer, I can assure you that we are aware of breast cancer the other eleven months of the year as well. For most of us, our physical scares are a constant reminder of what we have lost. Our emotional scars can become visible without any forewarning. Many women are dealing with lingering side-effects of chemo-therapy, radiation and lymphedema. (This does not include the side-effects that come from taking medications to prevent a recurrence.)

This is too many women and their loved ones who have had to choose between their quality of life or their quantity of life.

Even though finding a cure for cancer would be great, I believe it would be far more cost-effective to PREVENT this disease from occurring in the first place!

I am inspired by the following quote by this second century B.C. philosopher named, Huang Di Nei Jing:

“Maintaining order rather than correcting disorder is the ultimate principle of wisdom. To cure disease AFTER it has appeared is like digging a well when one is already thirsty or forging weapons AFTER the war has already begun.”

If you are feeling inspired after reading this blog post, I would like to invite you to ‘try on’a FREE, one hour health consultation to see how I can help you improve your quality of life and reduce or prevent breast cancer by at least 70%.

Click here to schedule your appointment today. (It can be done over the phone at a time that is convenient for you.)

Enjoy your day!

P.S. Take some time today to be aware of and appreciate the squirrels who cross your path.

Tip of the Day Tuesday: Stop Procrastinating!

Dear Sisters,

As I was Pondering what tip I could share today, I visited my favorite Place to meditate: The treadmill. We are old friends and at one time, my commitment to exercising regularly helped me lose 35 pounds in 9 months. I even succeeded in keeping it off for a few years-by Keeping up with my ‘regular visits.’

What does this have to do with the subject of: Stop Procrastinating?

One of the primary purposes that I created this website was to help YOU become: Proactive in Preventing disease and Improve your over-all health and well-being.

Most people (including myself) ARE lazy! We are searching for a ‘magic Pill’ that will help us stay healthy and not encounter any diseases that could end our lives Pre-maturely.

Doctors no long claim that chemo and radiation will cure the disease. They do say that if their patients survive for 5 years-that they are cured. I have read and heard too many stories about and from people who were pronounced: No evidence of disease when they completed cancer treatments and had survived for at least 5 years only to experience a recurrence shortly after they ‘thought they were cured.’

My theory AND opinion is that the treatments did NOT cure the disease. More than likely, the patients that were involved changed their life-style and once they experienced the 5 year mark, they returned to the habits that caused their disease to happen in the first place.

I thought I was doing pretty well for a few years after my breast cancer diagnosis. Most of my alternative remedies were working, BUT I was still experiencing a ‘few Negative’ and lingering side-effects from ‘the Pill’ that I took to Prevent recurrence.

I was Introduced to essential oils by a dear sister three and a half years ago. I thought they were expensive and that I could not afford them. I suffered for three years BEFORE I became Pro-active and started researching essential oils and their benefits.

They have Improved my over-all health and well-being in a reasonably short period of time. They are Inexpensive when you factor in the fact that they have multiple uses:

The essential oil that I flavor my water with, (I have been drinking A LOT more water because it tastes Incredible!),  I also use as a toner on my face. No harsh chemicals and it works BETTER than the brand I have been using for several years.

The essential oil that I use in coconut oil as a moisturizer has been around for thousands of years and was one of the gifts given to the baby Jesus. I feel confident that it is Improving my quality of life.

The essential oil that I use as a pain-reliever, I also use to clean and disinfect my counter-tops. It is also the primary ingredient in the cleaning products from Young Living.

The same oil that purifies the air in my home, I also use to help me relax and manage my stress and Improve my well-being.

Magic pills do NOT exist and will NOT improve your quality of life in the long-run.

When we Stop Procrastinating and do the things we need to do: Keep eating a plant-based diet, exercise, manage our stress and add a few alternative remedies, like essential oils will our health and well-being: Improve!

Feel Good Friday-Why are essential oils…essential?

Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona, Utah-April 20, 2016

Dear Sisters,

Today is a good day to ‘feel good.’ It marks the two year wedding anniversary of one of my son’s and his lovely bride. It would have been the 66th wedding anniversary of my in-laws. My in-laws have returned to their heavenly home during the past year. I am sure that they are celebrating a much better quality of life and love than they had here on earth. They are with the people that they love.

While living a long life is something to be admired and appreciated, one of the things that breast cancer has taught me is that quality of life trumps quantity of life any day!

My health is more important to me than any earthly possession that I own. It is essential to my happiness in more ways than one.

Which brings me to the subject of…Essential Oils. What are they and why are they…essential not just to plants but to us?

I found the following definition on the Young Living website:

Essential oils have also been used for thousands of years for cosmetic purposes, as well as for their spiritually and emotionally uplifting properties.

Primarily extracted through careful steam distillation but also through cold pressing, the purest essential oils are far more powerful than the botanicals from which they were extracted.

Modern lifestyles don’t always create optimal conditions for physical wellness. Poor diet, lack of exercise, and an overabundance of environmental toxins can leave the body unbalanced and diminish energy levels. From cleansing and weight management to supporting every system of the body, essential oils and essential oil-infused supplements can provide the targeted solutions you need to restore balance and feel your best.

In other words: I believe that essential oils ARE essential to life itself!

I believe that God created the earth and everything that is in it. One of the first things he created was plants-The Garden of Eden comes to mind. I picture it as a beautiful place thriving with life and everything that men and women need to survive and thrive.

I started using essential oils from Young Living two weeks ago today. (I had been using one of their oils for a couple of months for one of my lingering health problems.)

I felt a huge difference within a few days. Within a week, a couple of my friends noticed that ‘something was different’ too in a positive way.

As far as using essential oils to treat diseases, I have to quote from the founder of Young Living, Gary Young:

We don’t talk about disease and we don’t treat and cure disease. We are about life-style and strengthening the body through nutrition and the power of essential oils. When we do this, the body will take care of itself. We are about self-improvement and living life to the fullest. Everyone is different and no two products are the same, therefore, no two people respond to the products the same way. By simply supporting and strengthening the body with a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition, everyone can have his or her own individual experience without trying to narrow it down to a specific product for a problem.

Me and Gary Young at the Mona, Utah Young Living Farm April 20. 2016

I KNOW that the essential oils has improved my quality of life like nothing else has during the last four years. I can’t imagine my life without them-or my family. They are essential!

Enjoy your day!
